Community Sport/Activity:

Imperial Consultants have agreed to partner the internationalSPORTgroup™ and  Manchester City Council (Manchester Leisure Department) to be the Lead Legacy Development Partner of the ROWE British Grand Prix Squash Championships to be staged in Manchester in 2010 and 2011.
We have made a commitment to contribute financial resources throughout 2010 and 2011 to support the development of a city wide squash development programme. The programme will be delivered through existing partnerships with clubs and leisure centres to enhance activity which currently delivers to over 6,000 youngsters each year, and will target areas of the community that currently have limited opportunities to take part in sport. The programme will support the broader Manchester community and represents a unique partnership across all areas of the game which includes the provision for long term, sustainable community development.
Imperial Consultants, internationalSPORTgroup™ and Manchester City Council are committed to sports equality and are developing working relationships to address specific issues relating to disability, gender and ethnicity in the coming years. The 2010 and 2011 stagings of the ROWE British Grand Prix Squash Championships will further provide opportunities to showcase the work carried out in this area.

A Message from Councillor Mike Amesbury

Dear Kevin

RE: English National Badminton Championships and Manchester Development Programmes

It was a pleasure to meet you this weekend and I hope you enjoyed the finals day at the event. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Imperial Consultants for their continuing support for Badminton in Manchester. I'm aware that a significant part your contribution to the event is put directly into the City's development programmes that ensure residents get opportunities to play, volunteer and spectate at Badminton Clubs and events and it was inspiring to see the young people playing on the Championship court prior to the finals - an experience I'm sure they will never forget!

Manchester's Badminton Development Team will be sending you through some details of the successes that have been achieved through the development programmes this year and also what plans are in place for next year and beyond that I'm sure you'd want to be involved in.

Once again, thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you at next year's event.

Kind regards.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture & Leisure
& Labour Member for the Fallowfield Ward
