The parties involved in your insurance claim:

Quite simply there are three parties involved in your insurance claim, each with their own defined roles and responsibilities.

Your insurance company

Has the responsibility of processing your claim in a professional manner, responding to your claim quickly and efficiently, mitigation of any loss (moderation), providing cover as per your policy and where no cover exists providing a detailed explanation themselves or via a third party where one has been commissioned.

Imperial Consultants

We are an independent company employed to confirm whether a policy peril has operated during a period of policy cover:  i.e. confirm a loss has occurred that is covered under your particular policy (contract) and that the loss occurred during the period that your policy was in force.

Please note that our surveyors are not equipped with tools and any survey is usually limited to a surface inspection only, which is sufficient to satisfy the above.

Over and above confirming whether a policy peril has operated, we are not employed to determine the cause of breakdown. As an additional service, however, we will without prejudice, give an opinion as to the cause of breakdown and we will again, without prejudice, give an opinion as to the correct specification and calculate a price for those works; this we hope will allay any fears that you may have and assist you in your dealings with your chosen contractor.

All our surveyors have successfully completed relevant qualification in relation to roofing/building and property claims and many have previous hands on experience within the building industry.

You, the customer

Responsibilities include keeping your property in a serviceable and therefore insurable state of repair, mitigating any loss, notifying the insurer about any loss/likely loss at the earliest possible opportunity and to substantiate (prove) your claim: However where the evidence is available Imperial will assist with this.
